Women like you or me who are struggling with life’s challenges. They are examples of strength, courage and solidarity. They wish to take control of their own future and are willing to put in the work and effort required. The result is the realization of their hopes and dreams.
This is the Lise Watier Foundation at work.
The success stories below prove that our funds can and do change the lives of women in need. Our programs help women to build self-esteem and achieve autonomy.
“Hello, I’m the recipient of a Lise Watier grant, which I received through Dans la rue. As I finish up my first session in Adventure Tourism in Gaspésie, I wanted to thank you for giving me this amazing opportunity to take control of my life and participate in such a unique experience, in a program that’s perfect for me. The grant has allowed me to focus on my studies and excel at school as never before. I’m living in an environment that suits me perfectly, and which has enabled me to get back on track, take care of myself and thrive—something I may never have been able to do had I not received this grant. I’m in a program that mostly caters to men, so I am proud to be one of the five women who were accepted, and I aim to succeed at school to show we have our place in this field. Thanks to you I can achieve my goal, and I will!
I cannot thank you enough, and I promise to honour women by becoming an exceptional adventure guide!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!”
“While I know how hard I’ve worked, I want to thank you for the opportunity you’ve given me. Without this financial assistance, I probably wouldn’t be where I am today.”

“Before I was given an apartment in the Lise Watier Pavilion, I had to arrange visits with my children at McDonald’s because I didn’t want them to know I was living in a shelter. Now that I have this apartment, thanks to the Old Brewery Mission, my children can visit me every day after school. Thank you Mrs. Lise Watier. Thanks to you, I have literally regained my children and my life!”
